was tasked with doing up a page for tennis. or actually, two pages since each page is A5 sized.
nearly all photos taken by mr lo. even the background one. the one that i did take is that one over there of the five of them trying to look taller…
clone stamp is a good friend. used it quite a bit. i sort of like how the tennis ball turned out. it originally read ‘HEAD CHAMPIONSHIP’ if i remember correctly.
the shadows were stupid and annoying and extremely time-consuming without really looking nice. i hate doing digital shadows. gimme real stuff to draw!
thanks to mr lo for the photos and words!

i realised (much to my surprise) that i do actually have some basic competency with photoshop, and can adequately suggest direction of lighting on a spherical object.
in short, i can do (some sort of) digital painting! *GASP*
after many layers, i have achieved this. i’ll try to sign it (if i remember) when i get back to school. and locate the file among the multitudes of files sitting on the desktop.
the lighting is really standard. the same as what i used for the avocado in mr teo’s calendar.
the shadow’s kinda weird because i didn’t finish it. it should’ve been a bit longer.
sadly, i’m not proficient enough to capture it’s fuzziness. i did however, capture it’s cuteness;
there! reminiscent of this. or perhaps even further back to this.
hmm. took about…as long as chia took to transfer i-don’t-know-how-many photos? using the school’s super big tablet computer. it’s hideously huge. you could get, what, 2-3 bimbos to check their reflections in the screen.
have put it up on facebook. shall wait and see the feedback, since it seems that gets more views than this, not that i’m complaining.

since i’ll probably not have the guts to say it to your face another time;
the font’s a bit small…but click to view full.
anyway. i think i may have accidentally, unintentionally, annoyed someone.
someone else says i need more self-control; i think so too. for someone who tends to think too much, my thoughts surprisingly short-circuit sometimes, and often with…disastrous consequences.
so okay…i’ve been working hard on trying not to annoy anyone. it’s really really difficult. but i guess it’s the best course of action in the long run, if i’m to be more socially accepted. (so much for ‘who cares about society right?’…i still have to attain a certain standard to be a ‘better person’.)
“you’re just fun to annoy” would be the flippant answer. the more accurate one would be “sometimes i just do things without thinking about the consequences first and it’s really immature of me and i apologise”. the truthful one is, in fact, “i suspect there’s something intrinsically wrong with me but i can’t quite place my finger on it yet…i’ll try to get by this thing called life while i sort it out”.
and i think i’ll regret preserving this moment in all its digital glory in a few short hours, and start scrambling to the nearest computer so i can delete it.
why am i so self-destructive?

first proper fiddle with photoshop. i got lazy after the comet/meteoroid.
a week more to promos. AAAA.B HERE I COME!!! (but it’d most probably end up as AACC.D at best…)
after that, aep ilp, sabbaticals, fos, fac breakfast, ocip planning, pw op…
vjc has started their exams already. as usual, first paper gp. guess on what? lady gaga. and celebrities. seriously?!
anyway, things have started to clear up. not sure if it’ll ever be back to normal but i’ve been advised to “not think too much” and “try to pretend it never happened”. by someone who’s more freakily observant than i am but never gets called ‘stalker’. i know it’s wishful thinking to hope that everything will be all right. sigh /: xinhui says i need more self control; self control to curb the urge to annoy people. why do i always have to pick dangerous things to do? for the thrill? for the little adrenaline surge? i think i may have an innate death wish.
ct was amusing. someone quoted his mother saying that if you have nothing nice to say, shut up. i know a lot of people turned to look at me. FINE /”:< i guess you just like living in a cocoon of niceties. ironically, i hate sugarcoating things though i have a sweet tooth (argh sinful calories).
no matter how much i try to smother it, the little voice in my head keeps murmuring insults at me.
is it time to be “less derisive” and “more optimistic”?

and so it happens again. the oh-you’re-in-aep-do-whatever-design-sure-very-nice-one-so-we-give-you-to-do-okay-ah.
so using ms paint and my second-hand wacom and google (for the template), i came up with a few designs (they come in sets, front and back). it’s monocolour because we’re trying to cut cost. simpler for me to design too.
#1:
three stickmen doing strange tennis poses. very strange tennis poses indeed.
negative-coloured ball.
#2:
something lame that came about when i was trying to incorporate the hc logo. doesn’t really work that well.
the back. is a slack reflection of the front.
#3:
person holding racket and ball. scarily reminds me of the fat bloated nanyang girl holding a flower. see what it does to you? it brands itself into your subconscious with a red-hot poker and refuses to heal no matter how mugh time passes.
i was really, truly, out of ideas. so i decided to rest for the day.
#4:
and look what i did another day! rest is good. so are barcodes. so is giving up on trying to incoperate the hc logo into the design. i wish the man would be more dynamic.
i think this is kinda comic book-ish. because of the lines. sorta.

well anyway the club chose the first and forth designs. so the first will be printed on the tee and the forth will be printed on the jersey.
overall. it was quite a simple job. just variation of similar ideas along the same theme (tennis ball, tennis racket, people playing tennis, etc). just a matter of how to make it visually engaging and pleasing.
also, it has proved to those photoshop junkies out there, whoever you all may be, that ms paint is still functional despite the uprising of various other more advanced digital illustrating programs. not that i’m a ms paint fan. truth be told, i’m quite sick of it already. i want something more…finctional. ms paint just isn’t enough anymore.
